FAQ 2021-07-01T02:05:54+00:00

PH – Pupil height 2021-07-01T02:03:55+00:00

The center of the far distance part of the lenses should be centered in front of the eye. Accordingly the distance (PH) from the lower part of the lens to this center is used for fitting the lenses when the optician make the actual glasses. For the Panto Glasses. Where all lenses have the well defined classic shape of panto, we have the average PH that is used when actual measuring can not be done. Based on the Virtual Try-on photos the PH can be further calibrated. The PD is very important for the fitting of progressive glasses though.

PROGRESSIVE 2021-07-01T02:02:38+00:00

For people 45 years or older, special reading glasses are needed to see clearly on short distances. For this a pair of reading glasses may be used like with an add of 1,50D. However, the client will see everything in far distance very blurred when wearing these. Progressive lenses are the solution to the problem. In the upper part of the lenses the power is what is needed for far distance, or 0,00 if no distance prescription needed. In the lower part of these well established although very advanced lenses, there is the area that has the power of the reading glasses. The transition between the zones is invisible, unlike old bifocal lenses.

Special distance 2021-07-01T02:02:06+00:00

As for the example of computer glasses. If you are a goldsmith welding metal at 25cm distance, the ADD is 1:0,25=4. If you are a violin player and the distance to the music stand, the ADD is 1:1=1

Computer glasses 2021-07-01T02:01:31+00:00

The major difference between the power of reading glasses and computer glasses is the distance the glasses will be used for. The actual and direct power is the inverse distance measured in meters (1 divided by distance from the eyes to the computer measured in meters, e.g. 1:0,66=1,50) ) to get the ADD for computer use.

Reading glasses 2021-07-01T02:00:52+00:00

What is ADD/Addition from the prescription? How is it connected to reading/working distance? How to calculate YOUR power of reading glasses?

Astigmatism 2021-07-01T02:00:17+00:00

Explaining astigmatism. No extra cost ..

Prisms 2021-07-01T01:59:43+00:00

What are prisms? Most of the time prismatic correction is an expensive addition to the cost of glasses. At Panto Glasses the difference is not much ..

Measure PD 2021-07-01T01:57:18+00:00

This is important and we already have a good user manual for this. WHY measure PD and what if this measure is not included on the prescription?

Prescription 2021-07-01T01:56:13+00:00

How to understand the prescription from the optician or ophthalmologist? The importance of having the eyes tested by professionals on a regular basis and how often? What is SPH, CYL, AXE, ADD and PD?

Virtual Try-on 2021-07-01T01:55:30+00:00

Since the customers in moist cases can not try the glasses on physically, it is important that they are comfortable with the virtual Try-on. Sharing, saving and studying photos needs to be communicated.

Discount 3 for 2 2021-07-01T01:54:44+00:00

Important for me and for the customers to get the message through that 3 for 2 is a very interesting offer. It is a good discount, but also very interesting aesthetically and practically to have more than one pair of glasses for different occasions and use. Also, people need a pair of progressive, a pair of reading glasses, another pair of computer glasses, one pair of prescription sunglasses and one pair of single vision glasses as spare, for TV and walking in the woods.

WHAT IS PANTO? 2021-06-30T16:26:04+00:00

This is a VERY important point. There are few people who really know what is the word panto. However, when explaining, very many will recognize, understand and remember. To spread the word “WHAT IS PANTO” is probably the most important part of any marketing I can do

Difference between plastic and acetate 2018-04-17T07:00:25+00:00
  • Standard plastic frames for reading glasses are only used for cheap frames with lower quality.
  • The PantoGlasses (cellulose) acetate frames are cut and polished to expose the deep true color of the material.
  • All our models are CE certified.
Difference between titanium and steel 2018-04-17T07:06:20+00:00
  • The rimless frames in the PantoGlasses collection are made of 100% titanium. Super thin and ultra light, although strong. Allergy free.
  • The Oxford metal frames are made with Stainless Steel, both the silver and the gold colored one. Some of these are fitted with a Windsor ring in acetate, which is the original true panto design.
Are the glasses sold in stores 2018-02-12T09:41:16+00:00

Yes, the frames are offered to opticians all over the world. Please ask your local optician to consider to carry these products for his store, so that you can also try them on there.

Where are the frames produced? 2018-02-12T09:47:57+00:00

The frames are designed in Norway, based on classic shapes of panto from old times and more modern models. Produced by some of Chinas highest quality manufacturers.

Can I use contact lens prescription for glasses 2018-02-12T09:36:06+00:00

No, most of the time not directly. The refraction of the light is slightly different in contact lenses and glasses, and the fact that a lens has no distance to the eye/cornea also gives a slightly different result – the bigger difference the higher the strength.

Adjust frames 2018-02-12T09:28:21+00:00

To adjust the length of the temples, the easiest is to visit an optician. They are the experts. You MAY also heat it the end of the temple with warm water or with a hair dryer, but there is a risk of breaking it or burning it if you hold the air stream too long in position.

Explain prescription 2018-02-12T09:22:47+00:00

The prescription is the description of the refraction needed to give you an optimal vision. It is described in diopters (D), with a minus – first for those who are myopic/shortsighted, a plus + for those who are hyperopic/farsighted. Addition (add) for the difference between far distance vision and reading vision is always starting with a plus +, typically from +1,00D to +2,50D, while for computer glasses the add is typically +1,75D.

Astigmatism/cylinder (cyl) is typically described starting with a minus -, followed by the direction of the cyl, described as axis (axe).

How does progressive lenses work 2018-02-12T09:06:47+00:00

After the age of 45, most people will need reading glasses. However, looking at far distance with these, everything gets blurred. In the progressive glasses, there is a zone in the lower part of the lens, where you naturally look through when reading. In the upper/straight ahead zone of the lens, you have no optical refraction for those who do not need glasses for distance, or the prescription for others. You may keep the glasses on all day, or in situations where this is needed.

Where to get prescription 2018-02-12T09:29:17+00:00

The optician, optometrist or opthalmolog are the experts on eye examinations. When you do the test, you pay for their skilled work, and the result, the prescription is you property – or a copy of it.

Accepted payments 2018-02-12T09:09:26+00:00

PayPal, VISA and MasterCard are accepted.

What size frames do I need 2018-02-12T08:55:14+00:00
  • Panto glasses are by definition not so big frames. #47 is the “one size fits all”.
  • If you have a small face, if you prefer the smallest size or have strong glasses, the #45 is available in some models.
  • #49 is the choice if you prefer a rather big Panto. Even bigger sizes than 49 mm width of the glass would not look right for this style.
When will my glasses arrive 2018-04-17T07:22:24+00:00

Typically it take up to 5 days to complete your order. Shipping time with our partner DHL is 2-5 days, meaning it will normally take 7-10 business days from you place your order till you have your new glasses. For free shipping, the shipping time is typically 15-20 days.

When/if you want to revert to us for additional products or others, we will have your information safely registered. Your account is like having a analog or digital file with your optician. We will never share this information with anyone. If you decide to buy PantoGlasses without saving your information, this is of course also possible.
