Geir Sivertzen
4th-Generation Optician & Founder of PantoGlasses
Geir Sivertzen is a fourth-generation Norwegian optician and founder of PantoGlasses AS, based in Gjøvik, Norway. He comes from a family with a long tradition in optical craftsmanship. His father earned his optical craft certificate in 1956, continuing the family’s involvement in the profession.
Geir graduated in optometry from Kongsberg in 1983 and earned his optical craft certificate in 1987. His professional background combines decades of practical optical experience with a particular interest in eyewear design, lens geometry and traditional craftsmanship.
As a part of his optical craft training, Geir created a Panto Oxford frame from scratch, working with technical drawings, frame construction and soldering before grinding and fitting the optical lenses by hand. This experience helped establish his lasting appreciation for the distinctive Panto lens shape.
Today, through PantoGlasses, Geir is dedicated to preserving and developing the Panto eyewear tradition. His work focuses on the characteristic rounded-oval geometry of the Panto lens, exploring how this classic design can be adapted to contemporary prescription glasses, sunglasses and different frame materials.
Beyond optics, Geir has extensive experience in marketing, product development and international business development and sales. He has also over many years been actively involved in competitive fishing through Team Mustad Norway.
His combination of optical craftsmanship, entrepreneurial experience and appreciation for the history of eyewear continues to shape the philosophy and development of PantoGlasses.
